Forenom Apartments Stockholm Johannesgatan

A miserable experience. I booked through my business travel platform, the reservation was paid in full upfront, but no confirmation or access code arrived. The 24-hour phone line didn’t answer either. I was left freezing outside the building, trying to find somewhere else so I wouldn’t have to sleep on the street. After an hour and ten calls, they told me the code had been sent to a generic service email. Awful.

I wouldn’t recommend it. Check-in was late, and I had to call for the gate code. There was hair in the toilet, toothpaste on the wall by the sink, and mold or mildew in the shower. The bed was a bare mattress with a disgustingly stained two-inch pad on it. Six throw pillows, but only two tiny, flat squares to sleep on. You could hear everyone coming and going, even from the third floor. There’s none of the service you’d expect at a hotel or motel, like cleaning, fresh linens, or a receptionist, so “serviced apartments” feels misleading. I’d paid for early check-in, but that was delayed because they supposedly needed to clean the apartment. I couldn’t see much sign of it. I won’t stay at Forenom again.

For the price it’s okay, but having to deal with trash as a tourist on a two-day stay was totally unexpected. You have to take your rubbish out and do the dishes, and the dishes in the cupboard were dirty, so I had to wash them before using them. The cleaner should make sure they’re clean. There was hair on the floor too. The shower was a disaster. When I tried to turn it off, cold water came down from above, and I got a few small injuries in the room. There was a coffee maker but no coffee or filter, no microwave, and the spoons were in a weird place. You can do laundry, but there’s no detergent.

My first time staying with Forenom, at Johannesgatan 12 in Stockholm, and I loved it. Check-in and check-out were seamless. I also prefer the digital door codes to a virtual key, since losing your phone or having a tech problem could be an issue. The apartment was clean and practical, and being able to cook my own meals was great because food allergies mean I can’t eat in restaurants. It was really quiet, and I slept well. One thing: my single apartment came with one bath towel and one hand towel, so if they were in the washing machine I’d have had none to use. There wasn’t a facecloth either. An extra set of towels would’ve been nice. I’d definitely recommend this place and Forenom in general. I don’t think I’ll stay in a hotel again when a Forenom apartment is available.
