We spent New Year's Eve 2025 in the Victoria Suite at Hotel Kung Carl. It's like a lovely little apartment, with a separate living room and two bathrooms. The bigger bathroom has a tub, a shower and a small sauna, and the suite's large balcony looks over Stureplan square. The staff were accommodating and gave us personal, attentive service before and during the stay. One thing to know: room cleaning needs to be requested the day before, as is common in many Swedish hotels. We've stayed at Hotel Kung Carl for around ten years when visiting Stockholm. We love the vintage style of the rooms and the beautiful city-centre location, especially for New Year's Eve, anniversaries and similar occasions.

I paid SEK 7400 for two nights, and that shaped my opinion. I stay in Stockholm hotels a lot and usually get more for my money, though I don't know whether this rate was typical. The room was very warm, and I couldn't turn the temperature down or open the windows. Breakfast was good, but the gym was tiny. The hotel felt a bit too old-fashioned for me, and I don't understand why staff addressed me as “ni,” the Swedish plural “you,” throughout my stay when I was there alone. The hotel faces a busy street.

The hotel itself is beautiful, but rooms facing Kungsgatan street are noisy day and night. One evening, people were drinking and laughing right below my room until 3AM. The fact that the hotel provides earplugs in the bathroom amenity kit gives you an idea of what to expect.

My room was very tiny, and the bathroom barely had space for one person. That's the only reason I marked down the room. As a vegan, I was worried breakfast might be difficult, but they looked after me really well, including at evening meals. A lovely hotel.
