Ramilton Old Town Hostel

The only thing going for this place is its location, and it wasn’t worth the misery. The hostel felt unsafe and filthy, with a bad smell that never let up. The kitchen was disgusting and had hardly any of the utensils or equipment we’d been promised. In the women’s area there was just one toilet, hair all over the floor, and repulsive showers. The facilities looked nothing like the listing photos. We don’t think most people staying there were travelers. Many seemed to be older people without a fixed home, and the atmosphere felt strange and unpleasant. Cleanliness was nowhere to be found. Two of our roommates even slept without sheets. “Hospitality” doesn’t describe this place. Strongly not recommended.

I only ended up at this hostel because my original booking was cancelled. I’d booked two nights, but shortly after checking in I decided I’d leave after the first, whatever it cost. The place was dirty and in poor condition. My room was cramped, smelled unpleasant, and had nowhere for luggage, so I had to put my bags on the bed. The shower was narrow and awkward for a tall person. Worst hostel I’ve ever stayed in.

The basement had no windows or fresh air and smelled awful. I didn’t feel comfortable there at all. If you’re over 1.60 m, you can’t stand up straight in the shower without hitting your head. And they charge another 100 crowns for bed linen when you arrive. I’ve stayed in plenty of hostels, and this kind of place should be banned. It’s more like permanent housing for marginalized people than a hostel. My tip: don’t go. I’d rather pay more for the much better experience I found at another hostel.

A really good hostel in central Stockholm old town, gamla stan. The kitchen is spacious, and there’s a laundry room with fridges, handy for cooking or keeping groceries cold. I’d definitely recommend it.
