Arenahotellet i Uppsala

It’s so peaceful here when you’re trying to sleep, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. My wife and I loved the shower too, the water felt so clean. We really enjoyed our chance to stay here. The surrounding area is beautiful, and no words quite capture how calm it is. I don’t have many hotel photos, but look it up and you’ll see. One of the best hotels in Sweden. Thanks so much!

We picked this hotel because it looked modern and nice, and cleanliness matters to us. It also clearly said parking was available when we booked. When we arrived, the parking was full. Reception told us to use paid overnight parking if there were no spaces. At 160€ or more a night, paying extra when guest parking was advertised didn’t seem acceptable. The receptionist wasn’t helpful and came across as almost rude. We paid for parking because we could afford it, but that wasn’t the point. The room was far from modern. Paint was peeling, it hadn’t been cleaned properly, and there were bugs splattered on the window ledges. The toilet smelled awful next to the bed, metal frames were rusty, and the pillows and sheets were stained and uncomfortable. It was ugly. I didn’t want to leave a bad review, but these standards deserve it. There are older complaints about the same issues and it seems nothing has changed, so I don’t want a manager replying with a stock apology about improving service. Stay somewhere else and spare yourself the trouble.

The place could be nice, but the rooms weren’t cleaned well and the staff weren’t helpful, which made for a poor stay. If possible, I’d choose a different hotel nearer the city center.

For the price, it’s frustrating that there aren’t enough parking spaces for guests. They’ll also fine you if you find a reasonable place to park on the property that isn’t marked as a space. The hotel’s customer service and common sense were seriously lacking.
