I paid the full bill unwillingly and under pressure. I didn't want to make things difficult for the receptionist, who wasn't responsible for what had gone wrong, but the service was nowhere near worth the price. I expect a formal response and appropriate compensation, and hope the venue takes the complaint seriously and works out how to prevent this happening again. Several things went wrong at my party yesterday. When I arrived to check the table arrangements, I saw that the name cards for five tables, covering 25 guests, had completely wrong last names. I pointed it out straight away, but nothing was corrected. The manager said there wasn't time. That felt deeply disrespectful to my guests and completely unprofessional. I'd told them in advance that I wanted the welcome bubbles to start at 16:00. When guests arrived, staff were only just wiping glasses with towels, and the station wasn't ready. People had to wait while staff rushed to pour drinks. It showed poor planning and disorganisation. Later, without asking or even telling me, staff threw away all the buffet food left over, which I'd paid for. I went downstairs to ask for it so I or my guests could take it home, and was told it had already been discarded. Staff later said I should have asked them to save it before 22:30. But no one, neither the manager nor any staff member, had told me food would be thrown away after a certain time. How was I supposed to know when to collect it? Getting rid of food a customer has paid for without consent is unacceptable.
