Backpacker Cozy Corner Guesthouse (SG Clean Certified)

It's quiet and has lots of families, with comfortable beds and rooms that have air conditioning and fans. The rooms are basic, and ours had no window. The washing facilities were functional and clean, like the rooms, but there's no laundry. The location is great, right opposite Bugis metro, which you can reach straight from the airport. Don't expect a cozy lounge with comfortable sofas where travelers can meet, because you won't find one here. For good Indian food at the best prices you'll find in Singapore, visit Tekka Centre. SingTel in the bugis shopping arcade has the best deals on a physical SIM.

The reception was friendly and the wifi connection strong, and there are lots of Singaporean and Chinese restaurants outside. It's very basic and old, but a place to spend the night without spending much. I didn't use the shower because there were lots of little bathroom flies. There's no trash bin in the toilet, and the hand soap was diluted with water.

The guys at reception were really helpful and polite. The location is excellent and very central, with a budget price by Singapore standards. Don't expect a luxury hotel, but for a couple of nights in SG without selling a kidney, it's the best option. A couple of service tips: the property should provide soap in the shower, and the hand soap that's diluted with water isn't great.

The staff were excellent, the location fantastic, and the deck is great. The layout is well done, and while the bathrooms aren't huge, they're nicely done. I spent a summer here in 2011. There were some issues at the start and a few minor management problems, but that was to be expected. I made memories and friendships that have lasted a very long time. Once a month I think about going back.
