My grandfather urgently needed a bathroom while we were at the bar two shop floors below the hotel. Their shared toilet was being maintained, so the staff kindly let him use a room upstairs instead. Concierge staff Alfred and his coworkers also helped him up in his wheelchair. We’re very grateful for how amazing they were.

The location was really convenient for MRT stations, bars, and restaurants, and being on a high floor meant I could sleep well without hearing bar noise. I stayed four nights, after finding this place while looking for affordable Singapore accommodation with a private bathroom and my own space. The mixed reviews and photos had left me with low expectations. I arrived late at night and had to wait a little because nobody was at reception, but the staff member who checked me in was friendly. The fourth-floor room turned out better than expected: two beds, a spacious bathroom, clean, no odd smell, and AC that worked well. It was a bit dark and had no window, just a skylight.

The front-facing room had a tiny balcony, with a lovely city bustle and a view of the beautiful Hindu temple. We could hear the ritual sounds too. There was some bar noise, but it stopped right at closing and didn’t bother us. This is a budget hotel, so the room is small, though perfectly functional. Ours and the bathroom were clean, the staff were friendly, and the WiFi was good. Maxwell’s nearby has superb food choices, and MRT stations are close. There’s a 7-11 farther up the same side of the road. The reception is near the yellow table, which is also a useful landmark for Grab pickups.

The location was good, and it’s a decent choice if you just need a cheap place to sleep. For a budget stay, expect rooms that aren’t the cleanest, very thin walls and windows, and an odd smell around the place.
