Hotel 81 Kovan

We paid 206 Canadian dollars for two nights. The living area is small, with the toilet, sink, and shower all together. There's no window that opens, though the sunlight is nice, and there's not much desk space. We only got two towels, no hand towels. It's 1 km to Kovan MRT. The nearby 7-11 is too expensive, so you have to cross the road on the sky bridge. My wife is afraid of heights.

We arrived to find the room hadn't been properly set up: there were no bed sheets, and the toilet wouldn't flush. We could have asked staff to sort it out, but bedding and a working bathroom should be ready before guests check in. For the price, it was disappointing.

This was my first stay here. The front desk staff member Alex was rude and had a bad attitude, and spoke to us quite impolitely. I hope management takes note, because his behavior was really unacceptable.

Even on the fifth floor there was a strong cigarette smell, despite the no-smoking signs, and there was no way to get rid of it. The staff came across as unwelcoming and uninterested in customers. I've stayed at two other Hotel 81 branches, Hollywood and Osaka, and those were good. This one had the worst room.
