Hotel Grand Central

It’s an old hotel, but the renovation has been done really well, and it has the facilities you’d expect from a four-star place. I particularly enjoyed the excellent breakfast and the machine that makes pancakes. There’s no room service or hotel bar. You can walk easily to two metro stations.

The rooftop pool was great, and the location just off Orchard Rd is terrific. Staff were friendly and easy to approach. The bathrooms are a little dated, but nothing to complain about. I also appreciated the wall-mounted urn in the room, so I didn’t have to fuss with one of those comically tiny hotel kettles. It felt like a good middle ground between a sub par three-star and an overpriced five-star hotel.

Housekeeping staff were pleasant, but the hotel itself looks dated. The concierge staff and security seemed disgruntled and unhappy to be working when we arrived, which was a major turnoff. The room was missing basic things, even teaspoons or drinking glasses. I won’t return. I prefer my previous stay at Holiday Inn, just around the corner.

The rooftop pool had a nice city view and was a good place to relax after a day out. My room at Hotel Grand Central was clean, comfortable, and had the basic amenities I needed for a short stay. The location on Orchard Road is excellent, with malls, restaurants, and public transport all easy to reach.
