The location and the hotel's concept still appeal to me, and I've stayed here several times for work because MRT access is so convenient. I like the modern industrial-style rooms. But on this recent five-day visit, housekeeping and maintenance seemed worse than on past stays. The new hair dryer needs its button held down the whole time, which gets uncomfortable with long hair. After I mentioned it, staff promptly brought back an older model that same day. Guests with long hair may want to bring their own. I also found a damaged conditioner bottle cover when I checked in, but housekeeping replaced it quickly once I reported it. The worst issue was hygiene. The cotton buds looked dirty. I wondered if it was just my hands at first, but another sealed pack had dirty buds inside too. That was shocking and made me question the overall housekeeping. To be fair, staff were polite, responsive and tried to resolve the problems quickly. I hope management improves cleaning and maintenance, since the stay no longer feels as consistent as it used to.

A very convenient spot for a solo traveler or a pair of friends, right in the middle of the city inside Funan shopping mall. The mall connects to City Hall MRT station by an underground tunnel. The hotel service was fast and efficient, the room was clean, and all the necessities were provided. I'd come back.

The bed was very comfortable, the rooms simple but had everything we needed for a short visit, and the staff were really friendly. Being inside the mall was great since there were several food options without going outside. The breakfast lost them a star for us: we didn't like the selection, and it was very crowded. A solid four stars, maybe four and a half.

The price initially seemed fair, especially with Singapore hotel rates being high during Chinese New Year, but our first stay at a lyf property didn't live up to it. Its strong hipster, co-living and social-space concept may suit some people, but for us it came at the cost of comfort and hospitality. It never quite felt like a proper hotel. The industrial corridors and floors felt impersonal, cleaning carts were left in the hall, and service doors looked much like guest room doors. The whole place felt more like a hostel or institution than a welcoming hotel. We booked a higher room category expecting a decent view, but our window faced a wall and nearby office buildings where we could look straight into offices. The minimalist room had a whiteboard but no TV. When we left our bags at reception after checking out, we filled out the required tag form, but no one seemed to supervise the luggage area. Anyone could apparently take a bag without being questioned. They seemed more concerned with getting a signature saying the hotel wasn't responsible for lost items, which didn't inspire confidence. Breakfast was the low point. We had to clear our own trays, which might fit the co-living idea but felt odd for a hotel. The selection was basic and bland, mostly rice, vegetables, scrambled eggs and similar simple things, with nothing particularly good. The coffee was the worst we've had in a long time. Better coffee was available from the lobby cafe machine, but only for an extra charge, which was disappointing. The place seems to put more focus on its branding and looks than on comfort and hospitality. It might suit young solo travelers who want a co-living vibe, but I find it hard to recommend to families or anyone expecting a comfortable hotel stay.
