Rucksack Inn @ Lavender

There's no elevator, so expect to carry your things up the stairs. The place has a homey feel, with a common area I loved and DIY laundry facilities. The sturdy bunks have fairly thick mattresses for a hostel, and the shared bathrooms were kept clean despite this being a budget stay.

The owner has such positive vibes, thanks for the hospitality~ I liked that the toilet seemed to get a fresh roll of tissue every 2 days maybe. The toilet shower really helped me because I was on my period during my stay. I might come stay again hehe. I think I left my tumbler in the room (BAE 5), the one I attached in the review photo. If staff find it, please contact me =)

I felt comfortable in the all-female dorm, with its female bathroom and lots of locked doors. The bed and pillow were comfy, and staff were super helpful and friendly at check-in. It looks rough outside, but inside is nice and they put effort into making guests happy, with snacks and coffee. This place is great, not sure why the online reviews are so bad.

The common areas were dirty and the bathrooms were extremely dirty, well below an acceptable standard. The place also looked much worse than the online photos, and none of the room's power outlets worked, so charging anything was impossible. We were booked from 12-16 December but had to leave early on 15 December because of the conditions. Getting into the top bunk, a fan hit me on the head. That felt genuinely dangerous and unacceptable. I also felt unsafe because there was no controlled access to the areas by the rooms and bathrooms. People who appeared to be homeless were sleeping in the common areas, which added to that feeling. As a woman, I would never stay here again and strongly advise other female travelers to avoid it. We had no choice but to leave early. I can't recommend this hostel to anyone.
