XY Hotel Bugis Singapore

There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and it’s very convenient for buses and the subway. The owner was super nice and seemed to run everything. We loved the pool, but the photos don’t quite match the actual hotel, which feels more like a hostel. It needs serious basic renovation, especially dusting. There was probably five years’ worth of dust on the wires, lights, and fixtures. Just know that you’re getting a VERY THIN futon rather than a mattress, and the room wasn’t cleaned during our five-day stay.

The room was dirty and smelled old, with blue paint stains in the bathtub and black marks on the sheets. The toilet smelled foul, like poop, the AC dripped water, and the door didn’t feel secure, as if someone could break in easily. The toilet door also wouldn’t shut all the way. We called for help at night and got no answer, then found out there was no night shift staff. They’d only provided one toothbrush kit for two people, so we had to buy another at a convenience store. For my birthday staycation, the lobby had no air conditioning and the service was terrible. Staff seemed unprofessional, eating and using their phones instead of attending to guests. The pool was under maintenance, and nobody told us beforehand, even though I chose the hotel specifically for the pool. It was a 0/10 experience, and I’d never stay here again. There are much better nearby options with better rooms and service. I will never come back for this “Hi hotel” Bye hotel!!!

The birthday staycation for my girlfriend was supposed to be special, but the problems left us frustrated and upset. I’d made requests through the Agoda app, and none were fulfilled. I understand some may not be possible, but I wish the hotel had told me beforehand. The room didn’t look like the Agoda photos, and despite booking a honeymoon suite, we found only one disposable toothbrush. On arrival, the lobby air conditioning was broken. At the front desk, there was no staff to ask for additional items, and nobody answered the contact numbers. An empty counter also raised security concerns. The toilet smelled bad near the bowl, and housekeeping should have dealt with the faulty sliding door that wouldn’t close fully. The pool was under maintenance when we arrived. It was a major reason I chose this hotel, so guests should have been told about its status in advance. I hope the hotel explains what happened and takes steps to make this right. The experience was unacceptable.

I was pleasantly surprised by HI Hotel, especially after reading earlier Google reviews. Our room was clean, tidy, and looked like the pictures. The AC worked perfectly, and the room was genuinely quiet. The pool was great too. Nobody else used it during our stay, which made for a lovely experience. The staff were very accommodating. They let us check in early without notice, brought requested items, and answered our questions. Some small repairs around the property would be useful, though nothing stood out too much. We were happy with HI Hotel, particularly for the room price compared with other options in SIngapore.
