Hostel Most

We stayed in private room V3, and it had the basics covered: a kettle and our own shower with unlimited hot water. There was also a lovely view over the river and historic center. The staff were pleasant and let us check in an hour early, which we really appreciated. Bicycle rental is available for a reasonable price, too. The room was cozy and quite clean, and the hostel is right in central Ljubljana, near the main sights. For the price, it’s a good budget alternative to a hotel. It’s a small room and not especially new. Some areas were dirty, including the air conditioner, which could use a clean. They say renovations are underway, which should be good for future visits. The place has its drawbacks, though it met our needs.

The mold was everywhere, in both the room and bathroom, and the smell was constant and unbearable. There was just one very small window, so the room never seemed to air out and stayed damp. Even the inside of the closed window got wet. My bed linen was damp when I arrived, and at checkout guests are expected to strip their own beds. Some of the reception staff were rude as well. A hostel should at least let you sleep comfortably for a night, and this one really didn’t. For what they charge, it’s a rip-off. Stay away.

I can only guess the place has several houses, because my experience doesn’t match the bad reviews. My room and the bathrooms were very clean, the staff were lovely, and the location was great. I’d happily recommend the yellow house on the second floor.

I was in the 10-bed mixed dorm. The location was the best part, but the accommodation was only okay, and there wasn’t much happening for people who wanted to socialize. There was mold on the mattress above my bed, and I developed symptoms from it. I’m still coughing and having trouble breathing almost two weeks later, so don’t stay here if you’re sensitive to mold. The shower had no curtain, leaving the whole bathroom wet and humid, and the door had already suffered some damage from this. I wouldn’t recommend staying more than 1-2 nights.
