Art-Hostel Taurus

I liked this hostel. It’s a five-minute walk from the Castle in the city center, and the room even had air conditioning, which feels like a rarity. In Prague, for example, a 3-star hotel only had a fan. The staff called a taxi to the airport without any trouble, and at reception they pointed me to places serving tasty, inexpensive Slovak food. The kids in the next room were maybe a little noisy, but I can’t think of much else to complain about. Breakfast was normal, with natural coffee, which matters to me. Everything else was good.

The hostel is affordable and pleasant, with breakfast of bread, cereal, and apples. There’s a handy guest fridge, and the shop right next door has inexpensive food. The location is nice, too. There’s a shop and a couple of great restaurants on the same street, and since Bratislava isn’t very big, you can walk to everything.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the rooms were warm, clean, and comfortable. The property is on a quiet street just below the castle, so you get some great views. A lot of reviews mention regular beds rather than bunks, and the hostel does have them. We were given bunk beds, though, which was a real disappointment since I’d specifically booked normal beds.

The rooms are quite good, with single beds and large lockers. I only stayed one night and chose the hostel because breakfast was included, but I wouldn’t pick it for a longer stay. I need a kitchen, and all they had was a microwave. There wasn’t even a sink for guests. The shared areas could use some work too, since it didn’t feel like somewhere you’d want to hang out.
