Hotel Patria

Patria impressed me at every turn. I travel extensively and usually choose five-star hotels, so I was very surprised by how friendly and professional the staff were in every interaction. Sona gave us a great check-in with a smile, and Gabriela was superb during the massage, attentive and caring as well as professional. The wellness facilities were superb, and the pool was a lovely temperature. In my opinion, small children shouldn't be allowed in the wellness area in the evening. Our room was very clean and comfortable, with an excellent shower, and breakfast was great. They were also very flexible about parking. I'll be back soon!

My room didn't face the lake, but it looked out onto lovely nature and trees instead. The spa is amazing, and I used a few wellness treatments to help with my sore back. It's an older hotel, and you can see some of its heritage; that might feel charming or might not, depending on how you see it. A walk around the lake each day is nice, with lots of places to eat and plenty of activities. The area is very tourism oriented, which could be a plus or a minus depending on your preferences.

The wellness centre has eight saunas, and there are plenty of ways to stay active, from cross-country and downhill skiing to hiking, running, swimming in the 15 metres hotel pool, or lifting weights in the gym. Meals featuring local, typical Slovak cuisine were delicious. People throughout the hotel were very kind and friendly, from reception and restaurant staff to the fitness facilities. A great experience in the beautiful, famous Slovakian mountains, the High Tatras. Highly recommended!

Everything else was fine, and the hotel is dog friendly, with spacious rooms near tatra tower. My one suggestion is to add a kettle and tea or coffee bags, since the room lacked those basic amenities.
