B Boutique Hotel

The view from the room is amazing, and Beto’s restaurant had lovely service. But this is advertised as a boutique hotel with great hospitality, and the hotel itself fell short on basic service. We’d just gotten married and booked two nights somewhere nice, so it was especially disappointing to have this experience despite the beautiful setting. The room wasn’t clean. The table clearly hadn’t been wiped in a while, the coffee tray was dusty and dirty, and spilled coffee had been left there. There was also a mattress protector that crinkled whenever we moved. We had no hot water, which is hard to accept at $324 a night. Breakfast was another issue. We ordered it for 8:30 the night before, but it didn’t arrive. When we checked at 9, the man acted as if we hadn’t ordered at all. It eventually came cold. The next day, the 8:30 breakfast arrived at 8:50 and was cold too. They never cleaned our room or asked whether we wanted it cleaned, even though they’d delivered a full breakfast to it. The food sat out all day. On the second morning, after we forgot to lock the door, someone from cleaning walked straight in without knocking. There also seemed to be no clear system for tracking bookings. I’d booked two nights, but on the morning of day two, when I was heading out to meet friends, the man asked me a million questions and eventually asked for my key. I had to show him our messages and panicked for a moment, wondering if we had a room that night. We paid on arrival and had to pay again the next day, which made the whole thing feel like a mess. They’d said we’d get a bottle of wine, which was a nice touch in theory, but we had to ask for it at the end of the first day and felt a bit cheap doing so. I don’t usually write reviews like this or focus on what went wrong, but the hotel is so highly rated that I want people to know what to expect. The location and view are beautiful, but I’d recommend staying somewhere else.
