Rooms Republic Hotel Ao Nang Beach

The room was really big and clean, and the beds were great. There’s an elevator too. Breakfast was fantastic and delicious. I had a great time at the hostel. The lobby has a pool table and a swimming pool, so there are things to do even when the weather isn’t great.

The room size was okay, and the hotel is close to Ao Nang beach and the night market. But the facilities don’t justify the price. Breakfast was average, so I’d skip it. The swimming pool listed among the amenities was a real disappointment: it’s in the lobby and smaller than a baby pool.

A nice place to stay near Ao Nang. The staff were friendly, helpful, and communicated well in English. The room was good, and breakfast was fine. If you don’t feel like walking, you can rent a motorcycle right at the hotel reception, at a normal price starting from 200 THB.

The bathroom smelled like the local rubbish dump. Cleaning was average, and the towels were appalling: bloodstained, ripped, old, and at one point a very questionable colour. The internet worked on and off, with an excuse for that too. The receptionist who checked us in was incredibly rude and had a major attitude problem. I won’t name her. One of the other receptionists was wonderful and approachable. She even took our son's food to another hotel to heat it up, but before I could thank her, she’d been replaced by Ms attitude, who mocked customers in Thai. I understand some Thai because I live in Thailand. The place is supposed to be “new,” but it’s run down. We arrived with our 1-year-old son and found the elevator out of order. I asked when it would be fixed and was told next week. A week later, nothing had changed. It had already been broken for more than three months. Completely unacceptable. The stairs are a nightmare, so steep that every step feels like plunging to your death. The microwave was broken too when I asked if we could heat our son's food. Nothing seemed to work; it was either broken or missing. By day two we’d had enough and asked to speak to the manager. She wouldn’t come down and only spoke to us on the phone, promising that everything would be fixed by 3pm the next day. We came back from a very nice emerald pool tour, and nothing had been fixed. When I pushed her, she said we weren’t the only ones complaining, that she was tired of complaints, and that she intended to do nothing about it. Calling this place a dump is an understatement. The manager is a pathological liar, and Ms attitude, the receptionist, refused to help. If I could give a minus star, it’d be -5. Avoid at all costs!
