Arck Hotel

The room was cute, clean, and comfortable, and the location was good. But the TV was a pain: only one channel played, and switching to another left it stuck loading. No Netflix either, so what was I meant to do with it? Breakfast was mediocre too, just put together without much flavor.

The staff were warm, welcoming, and accommodating, and my best friend and I had a pleasant stay. The room was decent, with very cold air conditioning and a hot shower, though our view wasn’t much to look at. We came to experience the country, not stay in the room all day. There’s a breakfast buffet with complimentary coffee and other drinks. For the price, the location is a good deal. Big C, The Platinum Mall, and local markets are walkable, and there’s an indoor market nearby with really good quality clothes at affordable prices. Souvenirs, including Thai clothing and small goods, are easy to find too. Local tricycles wait outside, but they tend to overcharge tourists, as is common. The busy area is out in the suburbs, with food stalls and vendors along the wall, and it may be hard to find if no one is picking you up from the airport. Nothing negative to say about the stay. The bed and pillows were comfortable, and there are plenty of places to eat and shop nearby. Staff greeted us warmly and were friendly. The price is affordable for such a good location. The air conditioning gets cold, though it’s quite noisy, and the water heater didn’t work very well.

The room had an unpleasant odor, with a strong drain smell and a musty, moldy scent. The bathroom water pressure was weak, and the coffee quality could use improvement. I appreciated getting a coffee ticket before check-in, though. The area is busy and convenient, with many Myanmar people around the neighborhood and hotel. Central World is walkable via the skywalk, and it’s easy to get what you need. The location is the strong point here. If you don’t want to experience Myanmar-style culture or habits, or prefer more privacy, I’d suggest choosing somewhere else.
