The room was very clean and had everything we needed, including two mattresses on the floor, a shower, toilet, TV, and air conditioning. The amenities were basic, but I thought it was good value for money. Staff were courteous and helpful, though be careful about misunderstandings. They ordered us a taxi to the airport, but it was for the wrong airport, and we missed our flight. Our room was on the third floor, and there’s no elevator, so it wouldn’t suit someone who is handicapped or has limited mobility. The location is great, across the street from the Temple of The Reclining Buddha. There’s a small restaurant there, though we didn’t try it.

The food was good and the service friendly. They serve Thai and Western dishes, have a full bar, and accept credit cards. Even kids and people who aren’t adventurous eaters should find something to eat. It’s a decent restaurant close to the Reclining Buddha. We didn’t stay at the hotel, so I can’t comment on that.

The portions were good and the prices okay, but the food took a long time to arrive after the first dishes came out. We ordered Thai chicken salad, Italian sausage pasta, and mushroom veggie stir fry either rice. The dishes were either much too spicy or not spiced enough. They offered free WiFi, then switched it off. There are typical Thai choices and some Western food. Good if you’re really hungry, otherwise I’d try somewhere else.

The place has a quaint 19th century French cafe feel, and the gelato was great. We ate here in early 2014, and it was a memorable meal. The green curry was the best I’d had in years, and the pasta and other curries my family ordered were great too. It loses a star because it was pricey, even for Bangkok, more like US prices. Still, if you’re visiting the palace or temple and want an easy place to eat, try Arom. I’m sending a team of medical professionals there because I know they’ll love it.

RIGHT NEXT TO THE GRAND PALACE. The food is so tasty, the prices are good, and the coconut smoothie is awesome. I eat a lot, so I ordered two dishes. The service made my life better, it’s EXCELLENT. I highly recommend this place. 😊
