Bangkok City Hotel

I stayed here around November and was happy with the price, location, and cleanliness. There was a construction site in front of the hotel at the time, but everything else was fine. I just wish the front desk staff were a little more cheerful and smiled more when speaking with guests. I also hope hotel prices don’t go up too much once the metro construction is finished. I’d choose this hotel again when I come back with my family.

We were three adults and made good use of the self-service washer and dryer on the 7th and 17th floors. Halal food is easy to find nearby. Road construction in front of the hotel all the way to Ratchathewi BTS station meant we found a better route via Phetchaburi 12 to the train station. That same road goes past local homes and leads to Jim Thompson House. It’s a simple hotel at a budget price, good for a longer stay. Bring your own toothbrush, since they don’t provide one.

For the price I paid, I’d consider staying again. The room was clean and spacious, and we really liked the indoor pool on the fifth floor. The hotel is reasonably priced, in the city center near Ratchathewi BTS station. The doors don’t block sound, but our room was at the end of the corridor, so noise from the common areas didn’t bother us. There was road work in front of the hotel, yet outside noise was minimal. Breakfast had a good variety, but the lobby was the only place to eat it, and the food fell short of what I expected in Thailand. It wasn’t bad or insufficient, though.

Bad experience. They seemed to care only about deposits and charges, and weren’t helpful when a small issue came up. My friend made the booking but couldn’t join the vacation. When I arrived, they wouldn’t let me stay because the booking was in his name, even though I showed them my sister’s passport photo and the booking reference. It felt like they had no consideration for guests over a minor booking mistake.
