It’s nicely decorated, with a big room, a little library, and a great view from the terrace. There’s also a quick bite available on the ground floor, like butter Cresent. The price is low, and getting around is easy since the MRT station is right across the street. China market is about a 500m walk. The downsides are the stairs, since there’s no lift and you have to carry your bags up to the fourth floor, and taxis often drop you across the road because it’s one-way.

The lobby doubles as a cafe and art gallery for budding artists. The coffee is good, and the gallery adds to the atmosphere. There’s also a rooftop with tables and chairs where you can sit outside for some air on a nice day. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the hotel is opposite a bus stop and MRT station. We had a comfortable bunk bed, though the toilet cubicle may feel small to some. There’s mould on the walls and ceilings in or near the showers that needs cleaning before it gets worse. It’s beside the main road, so traffic noise could bother light sleepers.

The hotel is right by a Blue Line metro station, in the heart of the old town, so getting around was incredibly easy. The staff were warm and welcoming from the start, and the butterfly pea iced tea they served as a welcome drink was a lovely touch. The old building has a natural humidity smell, and the rooms could use more airing, which is understandable for a heritage property. Still, it was a delightful stay with great service and lots of character.

We were four friends staying for three nights. The terrace was beautiful, and watching the city from there in the evening is a must. Our room was spotless and roomy enough, and I didn’t spot any bugs. The staff were friendly and helpful, too. The location is ideal, right across from the metro, with most temples and major sights about 10 minutes away. Many thanks to the whole team!
