Dynasty Grande Hotel

The location works really well if you want to be near Nana BTS and the nightlife, while still having a quiet night's sleep. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, so the lack of an on-site restaurant wasn't a problem for me. I first stayed at the Dynasty Grande a couple of years ago while it was being remodeled. I came back after the work was done, but didn't notice a significant improvement. It still looks old and has very few amenities, so to me it feels like a 3-star hotel. It could be a 4-star with a major refresh and an interior decorator. The pool is one of the longest hotel lap pools I've seen, with marked lanes. That's a big reason I like staying here, since swimming is great exercise in Bangkok's hot, humid, rainy weather. The gym is also one of the best equipped I've found in a hotel: two treadmills, an elliptical, a dozen or more CYBEX machines, a Smith barbell rack, and dumbbells up to 60 pounds, the heaviest I've come across in a hotel gym. Both the room and bathroom are spacious, with a separate bathtub and walk-in shower. I was surprised and disappointed that my room had no USB outlets. There are no drawers for clothes either, so you have to use your suitcase or the open shelves. You can find better hotels for less, but the Dynasty Grande is a good option if the long lap pool and other features I mentioned matter to you.

Beware, this feels like a racket. I booked five nights for two people, though I was sleeping alone, and they demanded another 500 baht. The young man kept pushing the issue and confronted me by the elevator in front of my girlfriend, insisting I pay for the visitor. Nothing about this hotel felt like four-star quality. The entrance was sordid and the staff were really unfriendly, with no respect for customers. The room had only a bar of soap, no toothbrush, cotton swabs, body lotion, toothpaste, or disinfectant lotion. That's the bare minimum, like a two- or three-star hotel. The price is far too high for the poor quality throughout.

The rooms are always spotless, and the hotel stays clean and well maintained. I've been coming to Dynasty Grande Hotel for decades when I visit Bangkok, and it still doesn't disappoint. The staff are consistently friendly and professional. It's close to everything, yet quiet enough for a peaceful stay. It really feels like home away from home.

Everything was in good shape, and the staff were really nice and helpful. They even arranged cheap cabs for us.
