Eleven Hotel Bangkok

We used the pool, rooftop bar, and gym during our week here exploring Bangkok. The pool and bar were good places to get away from the loud, crazy streets below, and the room was very clean. Our first room smelled of cigarettes, but they happily moved us as soon as we asked. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food and breakfast were good and well priced. For first-time visitors, the location is handy for BTS routes and a short walk from the underground metro and boat connections. The nearby streets are seedy, with lots of sex tourists, many of whom also stay at the hotel. It didn't bother us, but it may give a poor first impression of the city. The hotel still makes a good base for exploring, so don't let the surrounding area put you off.

The rooftop pool is good, and the gym is decent. The rooms were okay, though I expected more, and the food was average. Service was the worst part, since we had to chase things up every time. Being in the middle of the action is a plus, but parking is difficult in that narrow corner spot. A mixed experience.

We had a great time here, thanks in large part to the fantastic location. Our room was spacious, very clean, and had all the amenities you'd expect. The staff were really helpful. The breakfast buffet was the one letdown, less lavish than at other four-star hotels I've stayed at in Thailand, and the food could be better. Otherwise, no issues.

The housekeeping staff were kind and hardworking, and clearly doing their best to keep the rooms in shape. I felt for them, since nobody should have to breathe that air all day. But the room was strongly moldy as soon as I entered. It left me congested, coughing, and feeling unwell, so this was a real comfort and health concern. I suspect the carpets got wet, perhaps from sprinklers or the earthquake earlier this year, and they need to be taken out completely. The building needs a major renovation, proper ventilation, and professional mold treatment. Until management deals with this, I can't recommend staying at 11 Hotel.
