Gateway Hotel Pratunam

The rooms and facilities worked well for our group, and the staff were quick to help whenever we asked. We stayed at Gateway Hotel Pratunam from August 1 to 8 with 19 people. Everything was clean, comfortable, and well looked after. Getting a taxi or other transport to the hotel could be tricky because it’s a little remote, so we had to plan ahead when going out. Still, we had a good stay and appreciated the friendly service.

I confirmed my room on the day I was due to check in and told Gateway Hotel I’d arrive around 10:30pm. They said the room was ready and someone would be there. But after I arrived, they said there were “technical” problems and no rooms left in the building. They refused my refund request and offered other hotels instead. The first was a dirty one-star place with no AC, a dirty comforter, and a door that didn’t lock properly. I turned it down. The second also had no AC, a smelly room, and bathroom lights that didn’t work. The front desk person nearly told me not to answer the door if anyone knocked, which made me feel very uncomfortable. After nearly three hours of going back and forth, I was still denied both a refund and a comparable hotel. They asked me to “compromise” on a third place that was nowhere near the quality of Gateway Hotel. I had paid for AC, safety, cleanliness, and basic necessities, and got none of them. They also kept my money. I’d pre-booked and double-checked everything before arriving late at night. As a female traveler, I found the whole experience really disappointing. I won’t return or recommend it to anyone staying in Bangkok.

Stayed five days and had a pleasant time. The room was small and didn’t have a window, but the staff were super friendly and helpful. There are three 7-11 stores nearby, and for a 3-star hotel, it’s one of the best.

The room had no windows, and there was a lot that didn’t work for me. The toilet seat wasn’t attached securely, the grout was stained and gross, and there was nowhere to set shampoo in the shower. There were holes in the wall where a soap dish seemed to have been before. The shower head didn’t fit the hose, and its angle couldn’t be adjusted. There were cobwebs around the room, the bulb was already blown when we checked in and hadn’t been replaced, and I heard plenty of noise from outside or other rooms. There was only one pillow and no outlet by the bed or nightstand. The lobby looks nice, though it sometimes had an unsightly pile of stuff. The hotel is tucked in a small alley that’s easy to miss.
