iCheck Inn Residences Sathorn

We got there at 9 PM to check in, and were turned away because our dog weighed more than 5 kg. Booking.com said pets were allowed, but we were told we should have called ahead. The listing should have mentioned the weight limit. Having to find somewhere else to stay in Bangkok that late was disgraceful. They seemed friendly at first, but when we needed help, they turned cold and wouldn’t support us.

The room was comfortable, smelled nice, and the location was really good. Check-in was easy, and leaving a 500 baht deposit didn’t bother us. We did find one dirty dish in the sink, maybe the maid had missed it, and there was mold around the bathtub. At checkout, I handed over the key and deposit receipt and waited while they checked the room. They said everything was fine and returned what I thought was a folded 500 baht bill. Looking closer, I saw it was only half a bill. When I pointed that out, they accused me of swapping the money and trying to pass off half a note. I wasn’t impressed with the staff’s scamming.

It’s a quiet, inexpensive place outside the inner city, with lots of food stands nearby. The shaded, roofed pool was great for cooling off after a day in the city, and Grab or other taxis were easy to get. The manager was accommodating, and the staff helped us out while we were traveling with two little kids.

Right downtown, so it was easy to get around, though having a car would be better. The service was superb, and everyone I met was friendly and ready to help. The room was big and clean, but the furniture and other things looked old and poorly maintained. Soundproofing was weak. I could hear people shutting doors and walking around all morning, so I ended up waking early every day.
