Sud Soi Guesthouse

Had a lovely time at Sud Soi Guest House with Apple, Kay, and Tyler the cat. If you visit, try something from Apple’s cafe. The prawn fried rice was my favourite. Can’t wait to come back!

Madam Apple was a phenomenal host and cook. Our first meal in Bangkok was at Madam Apples, and it was so good that we returned for another meal on our last night. Amazing stay!

Such a cozy place, with genuinely nice people who helped with everything. They suggested good places to stop and advised us where to exchange money. Apple is very sweet, as are her sons. And there’s a cute cat called Tyler who comes to say hi each morning.

Apple made our five nights feel special. She took us to a local market to try different street food, made us a different breakfast each day, and even drove us to buy fruit and to a Thai massage place she recommended, then picked us up. Her kindness really stood out, and the food at Madam Apple in the guesthouse was the best traditional Thai food we had in Bangkok. The rooms are newly refurbished, with good air conditioning and a spacious private bathroom. The shower wasn’t very hot, which suited us after being out in the heat. The bed is on the firm side, though I liked it. Apple also leaves thoughtful touches, including free drinking water, umbrellas, and bikes you can use at no charge. It’s about a 15-minute walk to the MRT, past local restaurants, food stalls, cafés, and 7-11s. There are plenty of places to eat nearby, but I’d make sure to try Apple’s restaurant. If you don’t feel like walking, you can borrow one of her bikes. This is a very local guesthouse, and I’d recommend it if you’re fine being a bit away from the city center.
