The Chilli Bangkok

The place is cheap, and while the surroundings look untidy, the hotel is clean and neat inside. The rooms are small, but have their own shower and toilet, plus a little work table. There’s aircon, a TV, hot water, and good Wi-Fi. My room’s sheets were a bit old. The staff are friendly.

We found bed bugs and killed them after getting back at night. We packed up and told the receptionist we wanted to leave, but he didn’t care or refund any money. He just said we could go if we wanted and there’d be new guests tomorrow. We’d planned to stay one night before heading to the airport, after four weeks of traveling around Thailand. The staff were the unfriendliest we’d met, without even a friendly welcome. The Deluxe Superior Room was tiny, about 2x2 meters, with no bed, just a dirty mattress on the floor. We warn people not to go there. Look for another room, you won’t miss anything.

It’s very cheap and comfortable, and close to the river taxi, China town, and subway. I found the place easily in the daytime, and the small rooms and iffy internet didn’t surprise me since they’re common at cheaper city hostels. A lot of the low ratings seem to come from people with a bad sense of direction or those who arrived late at night. If that sounds like you, this place may not be for you. For the price, I’d highly recommend it.

The location is close to the train station, and the hotel has a modern design. The rooms are tiny, though, and better suited to one person than a couple with two suitcases. Unfortunately, ours smelled horrible, maybe from the sink or the air conditioner. The towels and blankets were old and had spots on them.
