The Mandison Bangkok

For about USD 100 a night with breakfast, it was alright. Breakfast had enough variety and was good. The rooms and furniture are dated, with chips in places, and the gym equipment is old. The pool was okay, though it can get quite hot. Getting there takes some effort: it’s right at the end of soi 20, about a 20-minute walk from Asok BTS. The hotel offers an on-demand one-way shuttle to the BTS. A scheduled pickup from the station, making it a two-way service, would be useful. At this price, I’d otherwise choose somewhere closer to the BTS.

We booked a family room with my sisters and it worked out perfectly. The staff were lovely, and breakfast had the best spread. The hotel is near the center, with a free shuttle to and from the main road. I’ll book again next time I visit.

The location was ideal for me, between Bangkok’s main party areas but peaceful and quiet inside. I stayed 10 days at Golden Tulip Mandison and had a wonderful time. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout, and I was pleasantly surprised by a free room upgrade. My room attendant, Tawan, deserves a special mention. He cleaned the room daily when I was out, and I trusted him completely. I sometimes forgot to lock my safe, but nothing ever went missing. The room was spacious, with a smart TV, safe, bathtub, refrigerator and comfortable sofa. From the pool you can see some of Bangkok’s high-rises. Great hospitality, and I’d recommend it for business or leisure.

There were very few food choices for pure vegetarians, which was disappointing. A wider vegetarian menu would improve the dining experience. The rest of the stay was comfortable. The hotel is easy to reach, near major attractions, restaurants and shops, and the surrounding area felt safe. Rooms were clean and well kept, Wi-Fi was reliable, and both the gym and pool were maintained well. Staff were friendly, professional and quick to help. Check-in and checkout went smoothly, and requests were handled promptly.
