OYO 985 The Twins Hostel

The room and bathroom were clean, the air conditioning worked, and we enjoyed our stay. The owner was very nice and speaks English fluently, but we couldn’t always find him when we wanted to ask something, and he didn’t answer messages on the booking site. We also hadn’t realized there’d be a 200 baht deposit. Still, it was a good stay. Thai people are so nice. Thank you!

The common room has a nice social feel, with a pool table and a few benches and tables. The hostel is generally kept clean as much as possible, and the young guy who runs it is a good fella once you get to know him. Cheers, buddy. For a low price, I think the quality is decent. It’s fairly near the action, though not close to the metro. You can walk or take a bus outside rush hour. My booking said private room with private bathroom, but when I arrived I was told there were no rooms with private bathrooms and that the booking was a mistake. The room was tiny, and its only window faced the inside corridor. The toilets were rundown. There was no hot water in the toilet on my floor, and the water upstairs wasn’t really hot either. Fortunately it was warm and I don’t mind a cold shower.

The dorms are spacious and really clean, and the hostel is conveniently located with an easygoing party atmosphere. The rest of the place isn’t as clean, and the entrance floor common room could use some work. It gives the hostel a bit of character, though, and I didn’t have much else to complain about. The bar is affordable and makes a good spot for a pre-party. If you’re a backpacker who likes to party but wants to sleep whenever you feel like it, this could suit you well. My main issue was a staff member making noise and switching on the dorm lights in the middle of the night. It felt rude and weird.

After 10 months of traveling, this was the worst hostel we’ve stayed in. My girlfriend and I were told to share one bed even though we had booked two. When I asked for a refund, the boy at the desk laughed at me and was insanely rude. The room was tiny and dirty, as were the toilet and shower. We saw lots of cockroaches during our one night. The whole place was minging, and the staff were the rudest I’ve encountered. Under any circumstances, do not stay here.
