The Victory View - Hostel - Adults only

The bed was hard as a rock, the most uncomfortable one I’ve ever slept on. The cabin-style rooms are a nice idea, with some privacy and space, and the hostel itself is small and minimalist. But the bathrooms constantly smelled of urine, and the staff were unfriendly. An older short-haired woman, possibly the owner, was particularly rude with guests. She barely looked at you and wouldn’t answer questions. She should change jobs.

I’m back for a second stay only because my friend booked it, and I still don’t like this place. The four-bed room is fairly affordable, the rooms don’t seem very old, and there’s a free water dispenser. But the bathrooms stink, and the smell reaches the common area. Their drains clog, so water floods and mixes with water from other rooms. If people shower at once, you can end up standing in someone else’s water, gross. The corridors, bedrooms, and other indoor shared spaces smell musty too. It’s a long walk to the BTS, especially in the sun, and there’s no connection to shopping malls. I hope management listens and makes improvements. We might end up here again because my friend likes the cheap price, sadly. With some work, this place could be much better.

The room, facilities, and staff were okay, but Agoda lists a 24-hour front desk and that isn’t true. The hostel is at the top of a condo building, and the desk is staffed only from 11am to 11pm. There’s no other contact besides a Thai phone number. When I arrived in the morning, I couldn’t reach anyone because I couldn’t make a call, so I had to leave and come back at night. Even then, no staff were in the building. Security had to call someone to come over and check me in. There’s no Line or WhatsApp contact either. I hope they fix this and stop showing a 24-hour desk in the app.

The bathroom smelled like a sewer, and the odor spread into the common area. Staff were also hard to reach and communicate with. In the dorm, they ignored loud music, yet sided with a guest who woke me several times around 2 AM to complain about my breathing, something I can’t control in my sleep. I was made to leave in the middle of the night and find another hotel. Very poor dorm management.
