Travelier Hostel

The area felt authentic and local, without being as touristy as other parts of Bangkok, and I felt very safe there. Staff were always kind and helpful. Our first stop in Bangkok was also easy to reach by train from the airport. The beds were hard, though that seems common in Thailand.

I stayed in the six-bed women’s dorm and liked how clean and convenient the hotel was. Even arriving at midnight, it was just a six-minute walk from the BTS Ratchathewi elevator. A good pick for backpackers. You can check room availability on booking.com, and the photos on their Facebook page look much like the place in person.

We were able to leave our backpacks before 2pm check-in and head out for lunch, and both check-in and checkout were quick. We booked through Booking.com and brought a printed confirmation. Thanks to Miss Sue for the checkout service. The twin room with a private shower suited two people well, with room to move and space for a Muslim to pray. It also had an outdoor balcony. In the room were a TV, bottled water, hair dryer, phone, kettle, tea and coffee, hot shower, bidet, shower gel, shampoo, and towels. An iron was available on another floor, so no need to bring one. The toilet seat seemed misaligned and could probably use repair or replacement. Self-service laundry machines are downstairs. The hostel is near Ratchathewi BTS Station, Darul Aman Mosque, and halal food streets by the mosque, including halal Thai food. There was construction in front and along the road, so it could be noisy, but the hostel can provide earplugs.

The room was clean and quiet, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It’s in a local part of Bangkok, with malls easy to reach and two nearby local markets with great food. I’d recommend it for a budget holiday.
