Yim Yam Hostel & Garden

We had a private room that was quite small, with only a bed and a table, but I liked that it had no gimmicks. It was just clean, with air conditioning and a jug of water. Breakfast was included, the shower was clean, and the garden was lovely. Staff were attentive but still gave us space. It’s right on a busy road, so it’s easy to reach, and there’s a little 7/11 nearby, though nights can get noisy. Free WiFi, and they serve food.

The room was basic and a little uncomfortable. Fine for a backpacker, but it’d feel lacking on a week-long stay. The staff were very nice and extremely helpful, and the location makes it easy to get to different areas in and out of Bangkok. They also hold events during the week where guests can mingle, which we thought was very cool.

It’s worth the money, and I’d come again. The hostel is close to BTS and makes a good starting point for trips to Bangkok sights. If breakfast is included, keep expectations low: just some toast and cornflakes. The rooms are noisy because the hostel is next to big streets, so bring earplugs, though that’s normal for somewhere so central. I didn’t join the other backpackers in the common rooms, but if you’re traveling alone it seems easy to meet people. They offer things like game night and a Chinatown tour. They looked good, but I didn’t try them.

It’s a bit away from the attractions, but there’s a tram nearby and tuck tucks are available. This hostel seems fairly new and is very good, with clean bedrooms and bathrooms. A nice place to hang out with people or just chill.
