ANA PARK Chiang Mai

The room was modern, clean, and spacious, with a window you could open. It had a large bedroom and a separate living room, plus a bathtub and kitchenette with sink and microwave. The female receptionist was attentive and did her best, though she seemed to be almost the only person helping guests. I sometimes saw another male staff member, sometimes didn’t. Getting around meant taking a taxi, as there was nothing within walking distance. The second building felt insecure, with no staff on standby, and the service overall was limited, more like a condominium than a hotel. Soundproofing was poor, and we could hear the next room, though it might be okay outside high season. The shower temperature was hard to control, with warm water coming and going. We had three people but towels for two, and had to pay for extras. The pool was freezing and not suitable for kids. Water splashed easily onto the sunbeds, which are close to the pool because the area is small, and could disturb guests trying to relax quietly.

It’s close to the train station and other places, but there was no breakfast at this price, which upset me most. The room was clean and huge, too big for a solo traveler but good for a couple or more. It had a bad smell from the plumbing. I hated the closet setup: the TV was mounted on its moving partition door, so you could use either the closet or the minibar at a time. The service didn’t feel like hotel-level service, and the elevator didn’t provide security for guests. There was no water or towels in the gym. Oh, but the towels in the room were so big, lol.

Spacious room, nice vibe, and really friendly staff made for a great stay. Everything else was perfect, though I only wish the water had been a bit hotter.

I understand check-in is at 3pm, but there was no need to be rude about it. I was very disappointed by the way Aum spoke to my Thai friend today. I’d have expected a senior to be more polite.
