Habitat Hotel

Pim and Tom made our stay at Habitat Hotel great. They were helpful and keen to offer recommendations. They helped us arrange delivery of a package from back home in the U.S. and gave us useful information about Australia and working holiday visas for later on. The rooms were excellent, especially the beds and sheets. We could walk to the old town, and an Uber was easy for anywhere farther away. There were great smoothies and cheap Thai food close by. My girlfriend and I would highly recommend it for affordable, comfortable, welcoming accommodation in Chiang Mai.

The bright, clean room had a comfortable bed, and the location was central for shops and cafes. The housekeeper was sweet, though she didn't speak English. The room away from the street was fairly quiet, but it faced construction, and women shouting at the laundromat behind it could be heard. Management was the problem. A minute after I arrived, the shower fixture fell off the wall and nearly hit me. Housekeeping called the owner, who got angry on the phone and tried to blame me. They did fix it that afternoon. Later, my airline changed my flight, but the hotel refused to refund my third night and told me to contact Agoda, which said the decision was up to the hotel. The owner's texts were sarcastic. I wasn't impressed, and I'll book somewhere else next time.

For the price, the quality is hard to beat. The rooms and lobby have a nice, simple look, and the location is fantastic. My room was clean, the bed was comfy, the AC was great, and the balcony had nice views. Great price too. I'll be back!

We stayed at Habitat on and off for a week, before and after visiting Pai. Pim and Tom were great hosts and really helped with our time in Chiang Mai. Our rooms were spacious, comfortable, and clean, with a nice minimal style. It's an easy walk into the city, or you can take a low-fare Uber or Grab. We'd stay again and definitely recommend it.
