The rooms are simple but clean and sufficient, with low, Japanese-style beds that we enjoyed, though that setup won't suit everyone. This traditional guesthouse is part of a Spa and Wellness centre, and guests get discounts on spa treatments. Staff were super friendly. It's a peaceful spot in lively Chiang Mai, within walking distance of the old city, Saturday and Sunday markets, and the Night-market area. Fitness fans will find 02 Gym across the street, open from 900 till 2300. Taxi and tuk-tuk drivers didn't always know it as Porwa-House, but did know Porwa Spa.

The accommodation is basic, clean and affordable. Although the premises are also a spa business, they offer short stays and can be found on AirBnB. Guests at Porwa House get 50% off the massage and spa services there.

It felt like a personality-free flophouse, and I thought it was overpriced for what you get. For a better night, look at Sofitel South of the night bazaar.
