Smith Residence by ZUZU

We stayed for a month after a friend who had lived here for years recommended it. The price was good, the service was excellent, and the location was perfect. My room was clean, even though some items showed their age, like little tears in the sheets or towels. I like that they take an environmentally friendly approach, and cleanliness is what matters to me, however many people have used something before. I especially appreciated the doormen, who would offer to help whenever we were carrying heavy things. Thanks for all the care we received during our stay.

That balcony was my favorite part of the room. Opening the window in the morning or afternoon let in daylight, fresh air, and a cool breeze, so it didn't feel like I was in a hotel. The room was clean, had the essentials, and came with drinking water. I spent five days at Smith Residence on my first visit to Chiang Mai, and it really did feel like home. Chiang Mai Gate Market is just a short walk away, with its local evening atmosphere. There's also a rooftop and a small gym, though I didn't get to explore them much. The staff were genuinely kind and helpful. The guard was approachable, and the receptionist went well beyond what I asked. I only wanted her to tell Loi Kroh Stadium that I needed to leave, but she contacted them herself and arranged a pickup for me. It's affordable, clean, and well located for anyone hoping to experience Chiang Mai like a local. Good value, and I'd definitely return for a longer stay.

For getting around, Smith Residence is in a handy spot near Chiang Mai Gate. The weekend walking streets are both easy to reach on foot, and nearby you'll find convenience stores, plenty of inexpensive food and drink, plus lots of street food stalls by the gate. Staff were pleasant and efficient, and everything went smoothly. There's secure parking for bikes and cars, with a large bike rental shop across the road. The rooms are spacious, clean, and basic, with a fridge but not much else. As other reviews mention, a kettle would be useful. The TV has cable only. The one thing that bothered us was occasional traffic noise outside.
