ThongRan's house

We slept so well on this quiet inner street, even though Thongran's House is central and close to all the services. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, tastefully furnished, spotless, and have every convenience. Breakfast was complete and really good, and the value for money was excellent. The whole family is cheerful, kind, and always helpful. I felt even better here than at home, so leaving was really sad. For me, five stars are the minimum. We came back for another six nights after staying here 12 years ago, and loving it so much. This guesthouse and Kibb and her family are lovely. The room was comfortable, with a proper bathroom and walk-in shower. You're in the old city, close to everything, and they treated us like honored family.

A perfect location, and just the best place to stay in Chiang Mai. The host is fantastic and the breakfast delicious. There are cats and a dog too, lovely if you're an animal lover.

For this price, I think it's one of the best choices in Chiang Mai's Old Town. The traditional floors and furniture give the place character, and while the bedding and bathroom seem a bit old, they're clean and well cared for. It's run by a local family, so the feeling is more like staying at a relative's comfortable, warm home than at a luxury hotel. Check-in was straightforward and the hosts were genuinely kind. Since I was leaving Chiang Mai the next day, I didn't want to spend on a fancy hotel, and this worked out perfectly. The location is walkable to major Old Town spots but tucked away from the noisy areas. A bike taxi got me to Nimmanhaemin quickly. Breakfast is available for a reasonable additional cost. Some parts of the property were being painted for renovation during my visit, so I imagine it looks even nicer now.
