We stayed in one of the bungalows at Naga Hill, and it felt like being out in nature. It was spacious and clean, with a very comfortable bed and even a hammock on the front porch. The big salt water pool was a great way to cool down in the heat, which was well above 30 degrees Celsius while we were there. The restaurant had lots of choices, including Thai and Asian dishes, Western food, and snacks. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. It was a lovely little getaway, and we'd recommend Naga Hill to anyone coming to Chiang Rai who wants a few days to unwind.

We liked the peaceful atmosphere so much that we added an extra night. The food was amazing, and Naga Hill is such a beautiful place. I loved the lovely bungalows and the heavenly salt water pool. It felt like a healing place full of magic. Kay was kind and helpful, and Jaque knew a lot about the area and was great company. Thank you, we'll be back.

The peaceful greenery and beautiful, rustic setting were what I loved about Naga Hill, but I can't recommend staying here. For $200USD for two nights for my family, I expected the advertised amenities to work. Instead, we had no hot water for our whole stay, and the owner refused any compensation. In all my travels across 52 countries, I've never encountered an owner so dismissive of customer satisfaction. The place wasn't worth the cost. Our shower was open to the outdoors, so with the water frigid in January, it was impossible to use. We reported the broken heater that first evening, and were told nobody was there and we'd have to wait until morning. The next morning there was still nobody around. We were going on a full day tour, repeated the problem, and were told it would be fixed. That afternoon I called to make sure we'd be able to shower after another long day. The staff didn't speak English and hung up. We called from another number, were told they'd check and call back, but they never did. We called again and were assured someone had already checked it. After dark we got back and still had no hot water. The owner was rude, defensive, and unconcerned when I called. On our departure day, a western gentleman who said he was a friend of the owner spoke with me at breakfast. He was kind and seemed to be the only person who cared. After hearing about the heater and service, he said it was apparently broken and they'd install a new one. But we were leaving, so the right thing would have been not to charge the full room price. He said he'd speak to the owner. I didn't hear anything, so I asked again. The manager didn't know what I meant and said they'd call and ask. We were rushing to leave, so my husband checked out. I later found we'd been charged full price. When I contacted the owner, she replied hostilely that we'd already had a discount and that staying longer made up for it. We left at 1 pm instead of 11 am to eat lunch, which we paid for. I sent her our booking and receipt showing the full charge, but got no response. Other problems added to it. Basic upkeep of the bungalows was lacking: the doors creaked, were warped, and were hard to close, while the bed's mosquito netting was torn and full of holes. The bathrooms weren't enclosed. The hotel is far from anything of interest in Chiang Rai, and taxi drivers were hard to find for trips out there. Breakfast was meager, just a cup of fruit and two eggs on a plate. Lunch and dinner were good, but the service was extremely slow. Don't expect resort support either. When I asked for help printing our boarding passes, the owner told me to "go find a place in town." I tried contacting the hotel several times before we arrived and got no reply. We only stayed because cancelling would have meant a penalty, and I could only hope things would work out. We were there for just 2.5 days, and that was enough to leave a very bad impression. Chiang Rai is beautiful and peaceful, and worth visiting, but I would avoid Naga Hill Resort.

The design throughout is beautiful and clever, and the teak, bamboo, and grass houses sit in harmony across a magnificent 4 hectare garden. It's one of those places on Earth you never want to leave.

It's our last night, and I'm already sorry to go. There are hardly any other people around, the pool is lovely and cool, and there's massage service. The food is fantastic, and the staff are wonderful and helpful. This is what I imagine heaven feels like. We'll definitely be back.
