Hatyai Merridian Hotel

They charged us 200 baht because a towel was dirty, saying they “can’t waste it” and that we had to wash it ourselves. Seriously? Then they told us to find someone else instead of contacting their housekeeping. That felt lazy and unprofessional. We booked as a family because family rooms were advertised online, but when we arrived they said groups of more than 3 people weren’t allowed. So why call it a family room? The management seemed rude and careless, more interested in charging extra money and making excuses than treating guests with respect. Room service was nonexistent, and there was no proper food or communication. The website looks nice but, to me, it’s full of lies to trap people. Worst hotel ever, total scam and useless management. Don’t book here, go somewhere else and save yourself the headache.

I’d suggest adding door hangers for ‘Please Don’t Disturb’ and ‘Please Make Up The Room’. That way, room attendants can’t just enter without the guest’s permission, even when nobody is inside. The male staff were friendly and polite, thumbs up to them.

There are plenty of places to eat nearby, from street food and cafes to restaurants, and the room has a fridge. The hotel was being renovated until Oct. My first room was next to several rooms where people were literally smashing things with hammers. When I asked to move, the receptionist first said, “They stop at 5pm...”. They did move me after I insisted. The balcony sliding door wouldn’t lock, so they called maintenance. The repair guy screwed it shut permanently 🤦🏻‍♂️. The water may have been heavily chlorinated, since I got a rash on my legs. There was no in room safe, and the room, furniture, and bathroom were old. I won’t stay here again. I found Color Hotel much better, even though Merridien has a higher rating on Agoda.

Good service and a helpful concierge. I stayed here for 3 days and 2 nights, and it’s close to everything. Great!
