Stamp Hostel - Adults Only

The staff were truly amazing and so nice. Every time we dealt with them, they put a smile on our faces. The hotel was quiet at night and very comfortable for sleeping, just like the five-star hotel we'd come from in Bangkok. Its location is perfect for attractions and eating out. Breakfast was nice, if a little basic, and did enough to set us up for the day. The coffee was some of the nicest I'd had in Thailand. Well worth considering.

It's very clean and functional, with a modern facade that hides older furnishings. The breakfast menu has a nice choice, and you can add extra items if you're still hungry. The bathroom is spotless and well appointed, though dated in places. Beds are clean and comfortable, but a bit too soft for my taste. The TV access was a persistent problem. After I reported it, someone came to try a fix, but only got the internet connection working. The setup was super complicated and needs a clear guide for future guests. After that, only internet apps like YouTube were available, while the set-top box for Thai channels still didn't work. The room attendant didn't even try to fix that. The internet link was down again the next day. I'm a little tech savvy, but I've never seen such a pathetic way to access internet TV. It took me over an hour and dozens of attempts to sort it out. Management needs to fix this quickly. I'd use the hotel again, but I wouldn't want to spend another three nights without TV. A good-quality 3*.

The location is great, close to the railway, and the rooms are very clean. They do feel dated, though. The bed was firm and comfortable, but the pillows were harder than I like. Breakfast is basic and limited, with items you can order like a buffet. The shower setup was awkward: the door wouldn't close and the shower head sits very high, which isn't great if you want to wash a particular area 😆. I was also woken a few times by the neighbors and rain hitting the windows.

There are handy stops right outside the hotel, including a massage shop and a 7-Eleven. Big C, JJ Night Market, and Kanchanaburi Night Market are about a 10-minute drive away. The River Kwai Bridge and Saphan Kwae Yai Station are both walkable. From the station, you can catch Train 257 at 10:35 a.m. for the hour-long ride to Tham Krasae (Death Railway).
