Reef Resort

We chose this resort mainly because we expected to snorkel from shore right by our accommodation. That isn’t possible in 2026, because snorkeling on the house reef is no longer allowed while coral restoration is underway. We support that work, but wish the resort had told guests before arrival. Instead, guests can walk or take one of three free kayaks about 20 minutes south to snorkel in the national park, where the 200 THB daily entrance fee per person isn’t included in the room price. The beach in front is tidal, with large mud flats at low tide, so kayaks can’t be used then. If shore snorkeling is your priority and you’re okay without AC or a pool, Ao-Nieng Beach may be a better choice. For families, there are rope swings and beach toys, plus strong foot-wash hoses for getting rid of sand and dried vegetation, which gets very hot in the afternoon, so wear sandals. Pool loungers can be taken to the beach. We were first told to ask staff to move them, but then told to carry them ourselves. Staff take them back in the evening. They have no padding and can be slippery on the sloping sand. The hanging day bed by the covered restaurant area is much more comfortable and just wide enough for two. The beach is uncrowded, since day-trippers land farther down the coast at the national park. Dinner by the sea with our feet in the sand was romantic once the kids were asleep. The restaurant serves breakfast 8-10am, lunch 12-3pm, and dinner 6-9pm. It’s resort-priced, but the food is quite good, and they can handle special dietary needs. There’s a water refill station to reduce plastic bottles, which are still widely used and recycled on the mainland. The roomy guest rooms sit behind the pool, back from the beach, and most have partial sea views. The bed was reasonably comfortable and AC was quiet. The optional fan made noise, and the open-air bathroom was warm and humid. If you get up early, the sun comes through the curtains. Bring earplugs for the animals on the roof. Wi-Fi reaches the rooms and the beach near the restaurant, but can be slow or weak depending on the time and spot. Stay here for family fun and a pool by the beach. Choose somewhere else if you want easy snorkeling straight from shore. Update: We appreciate the staff taking time to respond with useful information for future guests. To clarify, they didn’t help us move the loungers the first day when we asked, so we didn’t ask again the second day. We didn’t know a refund might be possible. When we first raised our disappointment about the snorkeling at check-in, and again at checkout about the lack of notice before arrival, no compensation was offered. Management later suggested a refund might have been possible, but we were told it was no longer an option after checkout. We hope sharing our experience helps future guests make an informed choice on beautiful Ko Kradan.

The location is great and the food is great too. I keep coming back to this resort. Plenty of places have nice staff, but here every staff member really stands out for being genuinely super nice. I think that says something about the owner.

There were lots of mosquitoes, the water was salty, and even showering was difficult. The room was dirty and poorly cleaned, and breakfast was just so-so. I paid 19,000 baht for three nights but left after one. At checkout, nobody asked what happened or offered any compensation. They were cold and indifferent. Well, they’d already got the money for free anyway.

The staff were really friendly and gave great service, and the food was consistently good, especially lunch and dinner. It wasn’t worth eating anywhere else on the island. We loved staying three nights at Reef Resort, where we could snorkel right off the beach and borrow snorkeling gear and kayaks for free. The location was great, and we’ll be back!
