Kata Leaf Resort

We spent Christmas break here with the family and really enjoyed it. Jean and Nikki were wonderful hosts, always ready to help. The place was clean, affordable, and close to the beach and pretty much everything. We’d gladly come back and warmly recommend it. Thanks!!!!!

This was a terrible stay. We were asked to pay on arrival, which was fine, but cash wasn’t accepted and a 3% service fee was added. The way it was explained felt very rude. Getting our luggage to the accommodation was a struggle, across gravel and rocks, up stairs, then around a sharp bend. The advertised two-bedroom bungalow was humid, damp, dark, and smelled of mold. The sliding front door didn’t help. We considered leaving but had been traveling all day and tried to make do. After an early dinner, we returned to find the AC had stopped working. The kitchen had only a floor fan, and just a few light switches in the house worked. We had paid for four nights but stayed one. In the morning, the electric kettle looked dirty or rusty. The shower flooded the bathroom, leaving two to three inches of water between us and the sink. We packed and talked to the owner, Nicky, who refused to refund the unused nights. Staff were rude and the owner was aggressive and condescending. I’d look elsewhere.

Niki at reception was very welcoming, and the hotel seemed fair for the price. We left early, though, because the noise was too much. Heavy rain hammered on the metal roof and cats screamed every night. The weather wasn’t on our side, and staff said they would sort out the cat problem. The bar manager was unfriendly. If a menu item has no price listed, ask before ordering, or you could be overcharged and blamed for not checking first. Staff spoke very limited English, which made it hard to ask.

Really good place. I’ll try to come back next year for a holiday, and I’d like to eat at the restaurant again.
