The owners are on site, speak excellent English, and are there to help. Breakfast on the pretty veranda is simple but enough to start the day: juice, coffee, and toast. There's secure covered parking for cars and motorcycles. The hotel is well kept and very clean, with a quiet air conditioner, soft-enough mattress and pillows, and plenty of hot shower water. It's about a 600 m walk from the old town and Friday night market. I've stayed in hundreds of hotels around Thailand, and this is very good value.

We'd definitely come back. Phaya Inn is a pleasant family-run hotel close to the center and main attractions, with bicycles available for guests. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We especially liked the beautiful garden and spacious, tastefully furnished rooms with balconies overlooking the palm trees. The lobby and hotel have an artistic touch that makes the place lovely. Breakfast includes toast, jam, coffee, tea, cocoa, and biscuits, and the price is more than fair.

We really enjoyed staying here. The rooms were spotless and the beds comfortable, and the quiet, leafy setting was lovely. Our host was warm and spoke excellent English. There was coffee and toast ready in the morning, too.

I wouldn’t count on a phone booking here if you’re a foreign guest, especially if you’re traveling alone. Get confirmation in writing and keep another option in mind. I’d called twice to confirm a monthly stay and was told a room was available. After more than an hour on the road in the rain, I was told I couldn’t rent because I’m not Thai and don’t work in Thailand. When I asked why nobody had called to let me know, the owner said their landline doesn’t show call logs. My number was already on file, so that didn’t feel like a real explanation. A quick message could have saved the trip. The owner later saw how upset I was and changed her tone. She offered to help, said I could stay, and even drove me back to Chiang Mai. But the refusal and the sudden kindness left me unsure what to expect from this place. This is a repost because my earlier review was removed. I stand by my account and will keep sharing it so others can make an informed choice.
