Castle House Resort

For a night stopover, this was really good value. The room was very clean, with a nice bed, hot shower, A/C, TV, strong Wi-Fi and a little fridge for my beers. Highly recommend it.

Room 3 was clean and new. Room 1 had a very strong smell coming from the bathroom. We talked it over with the owner, but they were fully booked, so the owner refunded our money.

The location was handy, just a three-minute drive to the market for food and close to different tourist spots. Sudarat BBQ is across the street, tasty and reasonably priced. The staff were helpful, and the room was pretty and comfortable to relax in, even if the area right outside looked a little messy and had nothing there. Inside, it was clean and smelled nice. There was very cold air conditioning, a TV, fridge, hot water, Wi-Fi and a small kettle. The room was a good standard size. One thing that made me uneasy was the rather large casement window in the bathroom. Some extra steel bars would help. If I were traveling alone as a woman, I’d feel a bit apprehensive. The room faces the road, which could bother light sleepers. Traffic got quieter around 11 PM, though, and the next bus was around 6 AM.

The location is excellent for nearby tourist attractions, and service was a strong point. We booked through Agoda. There’s no main Facebook page, but you can book by phone, LINE or other online sites, and the staff were easy to reach and quick to respond. At check-in someone welcomed us at a small desk and gave us one key. I’d suggest adding more security than just a single key. We paid about 960 baht, which felt a bit high since places at that price often include breakfast. I personally wouldn’t mind skipping breakfast, but a simple option would be nice at that rate. The area in front is overgrown with weeds and could use clearing. The place itself was okay, though it seemed like it needed more upkeep. With those improvements, it could be fantastic. The room was spacious, with a bathrobe, soap, drinking water, glasses, spoons and a kettle, but no coffee. The bed frame had edges sticking out, and I scratched myself a little. The bathroom exhaust fan switch was broken, leaving a musty smell, so we used air freshener. They should have told us or offered help with that. We could hear some noise from the next room, though not conversations, and it wasn’t too bad. The air conditioner seemed slow at first but worked fine once we followed the instructions.
