The hosts were kind, and I liked the garden and the adorable puppy. But the room cost 600 baht, which felt too expensive for what it was. It’s about 10 km from Pai, a distance we chose, and we expected it to be quiet. Instead, it’s right by the main highway. The bed was hard, the insulation was poor, and winter nights got very cold, around 11°C.

If you want a quiet break from the hostel scene and a stay surrounded by nature, this is the kind of place for it. It’s simple, clean, and about seven minutes north of Pai. The owner has built up the property herself over the past two years and planted all sorts of fruit trees. She’s happy to share whatever’s ripe, and her avocado smoothie is great. I’m already looking forward to coming back. It’s peaceful rather than fancy or party-focused.

The bungalows are basic but clean and comfortable, and Pai is only a couple of minutes away by car. It’s far enough from town to feel quiet. We stayed four days, and the owner let us pick fresh papayas from her garden each day. There’s free coffee and water refills throughout the day, and she’s always friendly and helpful. We loved it here.

We couldn’t get into the bungalow because the owner had no key. She couldn’t open the door with a butter knife, so we had to find somewhere else to stay, and she refused to refund us. To get our bags, she had us crawl through a hole under the bungalow to the bathroom. The place is far from Pai and expensive to reach. It was awful.

The hut was clean and pleasant, and felt cozy even though the facilities are a bit old. It’s run by a small local family who don’t speak much English, but they do what they can to help. If you’re after some quiet time a little outside Pai, it’s a really nice place. The ride to the center takes around 10 minutes by bike, so I’d recommend staying here if you have one. Great for couples.
