Chalet Suisse

Whenever I’m in Pattaya, this is where I like to stay. It’s about 100 m from the beach, with large, clean rooms that have everything you need. The hotel restaurant serves Swiss specialties as well as Thai food. Booking is easy, and they’re glad to answer questions. The staff are friendly and helpful every time.

The place looks lovely, but the mussels in white wine I ordered weren’t good. Their sauce was thick like carbonara. I hope the owner takes this feedback well and works with the cook to improve things.

We had good food, served quickly, and the staff seemed pleasant. There’s a soup of the day and a salad bar available for guests. The Swiss-style restaurant has plenty of room, with a pub-like interior and seating outside by the entrance if you prefer. It’s on a side street, and you can park there or nearby.

I’ve been visiting Chalet Suisse for over 15 years, though I don’t live in Pattaya and only come fairly often. This visit was a huge disappointment. My wife of six years was looked at and treated like a cheap bar girl, which was unacceptable. The staff were especially disrespectful when we raised our concerns. The owner wasn’t there, but we reached him by Telefon. Either the staff ignored his directions or he had deliberately told them to treat us badly. The website prices didn’t match the restaurant menu. Our fondue Chinoise came with just six pieces of low-quality meat, and we were charged for the salad buffet8normally free).
