Khao Sok River & Jungle Resort

The best part was the activities. We joined the night safari and the Khao Sok lake tour, and both were wonderful. The resort had everything organized, including bags packed with what we needed, a thoughtful touch. It’s also close to restaurants, shops, markets, and laundries. The setting is beautiful, with lush greenery and wooden bungalows scattered among the trees. Inside, though, the rooms didn’t match that first impression. They felt damp and smelled, and had little defects that made them less comfortable. The curtain rod fell down at least three times while I was closing the curtains. There’s no proper wardrobe or luggage space, so my partner and I had to leave our suitcases on the floor, with barely any room to move. The bathroom is basic, with no enclosed shower, so the whole floor gets wet. The sink is small and old, and insects can get into food left in the room. The restaurant in the main hall was average. Our lunch on arrival wasn’t special, and breakfast was decent but forgettable. They do cook a range of dishes fresh, but nothing stood out. There’s a vegan page on the menu, yet I found eggs in the pancakes, so double-check if you have dietary restrictions. It’s a lovely location with well-organized paid activities, but the rooms and food could be better.

You can swim in the creek right at the resort, and it’s right in the middle of the village. The restaurant food was great. Our rooms were clean and practical, just what we expected for the price. Staff were helpful and accommodating, and did a great job suggesting and organizing tours.

I needed a base for trips into the jungle or to the lake, and the room did the job. The air conditioning worked terribly and the bathroom had a very strange smell. Still, I wasn’t there to spend days relaxing, just to sleep after an exciting day.

The pancakes at breakfast were especially delicious, and breakfast every morning was good. Staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was lovely, with mosquito nets around the bed, and they cleaned every day and replenished the bottled water daily. We took two of the tours they offer. Both were amazing and honestly good value for money. They also kindly gave us a free transfer to the minivan station.
