Amanpuri

The days here have a wonderfully unhurried rhythm, from quiet mornings by the ocean to time spent dining, relaxing on the beach, and enjoying the stillness at night. Amanpuri feels like its own peaceful world on a private peninsula above the Andaman Sea. The pavilions, Thai architecture, and understated service all feel carefully considered, while the privacy is remarkable. This is one of those rare stays that makes you rethink what great hospitality can be.

I really want to return. Amanpuri is magnificent and worth the trip, and Linda H, the Residence Manager, did so much to make our stay feel perfect. The staff were welcoming and moved quickly whenever something was needed. Food was consistently delicious at breakfast and dinner, and the beach menu was excellent too, with children’s options everywhere. The private beach barbecue was especially well done. The boutique has lovely clothes, jewelry, accessories, and Aman branded cosmetics and apparel. Beach service was among the best I’ve experienced. The beach stayed pristine and uncrowded, towels were ready when we came out of the sea, and we could swim and walk along the shore freely. The rooms were clean, though they aren’t very new. Textiles felt luxurious and smelled lovely, but I’d like more premium toiletries and individually wrapped cotton swabs. I also had noise near my room that affected the spa experience. The spa reception could be better, the in room amenities upgraded, and something should be done about the nearby road noise.

I’ve stayed in plenty of five-star hotels around the world, and not all of them deliver the experience their rating suggests. Amanpuri did. After visiting 20 countries, I can say the service here was the best I’ve had, and it’s unusual to find this level of care in Phuket. The staff seem to know who you are and what you need, and housekeeping somehow timed room cleaning for when we were out, finishing before we returned. The complimentary breakfast was beautifully prepared with lots of choices, and the gym had advanced equipment that suited me as a gym rat. It felt like real effort went into staff training and keeping the facilities in good shape. The farewell from reception was especially warm. The semi-private beach was clean and peaceful, without crowds shouting or bickering, so it was easy to enjoy a quiet holiday. The price may seem high, but I found it worth it. I’ve seen five-star hotels in Phuket overlook requests, leave the bathroom basin dirty, or pay little attention to guests. Here, I didn’t feel that anything was likely to go wrong, which matters when I rarely get time for a long holiday. Special thanks to Khun Nun, Room Division Manager, Giulia, Guest Relation Manager, Puy-noon, Guest Service Assistance, and Fern, Intern Staff, for making the trip so easy and enjoyable.

We came to celebrate our wedding anniversary and had a wonderful stay. The staff remembered our preferences, and the service was out of this world. I’d happily return and look forward to trying another Aman property.
