Beachfront Phuket

We found eDrive Rental just around the corner and booked online. A brand-new scooter was delivered to our hotel in 15 minutes at no charge, so we were on the road quickly. The hotel was quiet, cozy, and stylish, with a modern interior. The beach isn’t far and there are lots of cafés nearby. A perfect place for couples.

The beach is wonderful, and there’s a lovely free-spirited feel to the place. In February the weather was tropical and amazing. You see lanterns in the sky, and locals come over to offer lanterns, fireworks, food, and whatever else you’d like. I was surprised by how much is allowed in Thailand.

I stayed two weeks at this small boutique hotel right on the beach. It stayed quiet and clean the whole time, and the spacious room was cleaned daily by the fantastic staff. Everyone was polite and helpful, and gave me useful tips about the area. There’s a scooter and car rental right next door, plus bars and little restaurants within walking distance. On three or four market days, you can buy fresh food, including seafood, very cheaply. There’s also a Tesco supermarket in town for non-food items. I’d definitely stay again.

Ms Thai at the check-in counter was very friendly. The facilities were generally old but clean, and the TV and sound system felt dated. The TV had no HDMI function. I felt cheated because there wasn’t a beach in front of the hotel where children could play or swim, so it should be called seafront rather than beachfront. Be careful about when you visit Phuket: on my trip in August 2018, strong waves and red flags meant I couldn’t swim at any beach. Food and transport were very expensive, at least 50% more than in my home country, Malaysia.
