SALA Phuket Mai Khao Beach Resort

It’s a beautiful resort with a wonderful team, and we’d love to return. The team’s customer service made us feel special and well looked after. Reception always greeted us warmly, whatever time we came or went, and the housekeeping lady was kind and did a great job cleaning our room daily. Everyone we met was friendly and welcoming, including the supervisor in the buffet area. There’s a small village nearby for basic shopping, which was convenient. We also recommend the nearby experiences like Fantasy Island and Turtle Island, as well as the buffet and shows, which were worth it. The resort itself is lovely, with a mix of luxury, calm, and nature.

Gift at reception went out of the way to help us find medical care at a local clinic when someone in our party became ill with a bacterial cold brought from the UK. The drivers to nearby restaurants and the airport were friendly too, including Karn on the return trip to Phuket International Airport. The Thai staff were pleasant and helpful throughout. The restaurant was superb, and the English Executive Chef, who has lived in Thailand for eighteen years, regularly checked on food quality and chatted with diners. A really nice guy, even if he was a Man City fan. The resort is top quality, with large, comfortable rooms, great A/C, and a big double bed that gave me a wonderful sleep. It’s about fifty strides from the beach and beautiful Andaman Sea, and has a spa, swimming pools, and a poolside café for cocktails and nibbles. One small improvement: the decking by the pool and restaurant has little steps that are easy to miss because they’re the same color. I saw several people stumble. White markings might help prevent older people in particular from tripping. We had a wonderful holiday in Phuket, and I’d highly recommend Sala Beach Resort.

Quiet, private chalets with their own pools, an outdoor lounge, and an outdoor bathroom make this a beautiful oasis of calm on Mai Khao beach. There are all the luxuries you need. Tony chats with guests and runs a super restaurant, kindly accommodating requests. The beachfront resort has a pool, loungers, and lots of extras. The team is super kind, and it’s a memorable place I’d want to return to. 🙏🏻

The beach is pristine, and the water clear and clean. This is a beautiful, quiet location about 40 mins from Phuket old town, with friendly staff and high-standard food. Service felt 4 star, and the evening entertainment was generally good. The head chef was a little socially awkward when making his rounds. Aircon and WiFi worked well. There are accessibility issues throughout: steps connect the many different levels, and some are hard to see or poorly marked. The pools feel ornamental and aren’t easy to use, with deep steps, no handrails, and underwater steps and ledges with sharp corners that could be hazardous. The room plunge pool was also difficult to get into, with no handrail. The outside his and hers sinks and loo had no running water in the room, so at night we had to go through an awkward door and down a step for a loo stop. Storage wasn’t enough for two standard suitcases and the things we brought for a two week holiday. The complex is large and monolithic, built post tsunami, without a natural central hub. The very open bar has big love beds suited to couples, but there’s no good spot for two couples who’ve just met to sit across from each other for a drink and chat, apart from the restaurant.
